Do you offer Transit Insurance?

We don’t provide transit insurance – we recommend that customers secure their own insurance. If you do not arrange your own transit insurance we will not be held liable for any damages incurred.

Do you take care of packing?

Yes, we offer professional packing services to help ensure that your belongings are securely and efficiently packed for the move.

What packing materials do you supply?

We supply a full range of packing materials, including sturdy boxes, bubble wrap, high-quality tape, mattress covers, wrap blankets, wrapping paper, and carry bags to meet all your moving needs.

Do you offer storage services?

Yes, we provide both short-term and long-term storage solutions using secure storage containers, so you can be confident your items remain safe if extra space is needed during your transition.

How do I get a quote for my move?

Moving Information Checklist

Use this checklist to review and prepare the essential tasks before booking your move.

Pre-Move Planning & Preparation

Identify all the boxes you’ll need on move day and group them together
Finish packing household items you won’t need overnight
Collect all keys and important items in one place for the next owner/tenant
Drain your washing machine and clean/unplug the drier after finishing laundry
Clean out your fridge (freezer can remain full as-is or follow mover instructions)
Label boxes you’ll need as soon as you arrive at your new home

Coordinating & Booking Essentials

Book with Whitehall Movers early to secure your ideal moving date
Liaise with your real estate agent or landlord to collect your new keys
Arrange for a storage unit if needed and check for packing supply sources
Check if your insurance covers your move, or get a transit insurance quote
Arrange to forward your mail via the NZ Post website
Notify your change of address using the provided checklist

Final Checks & Move-Out Tasks

Dismantle any unused furniture and tidy up gardens, sheds, and lawns
Pack away items you won’t need this week and ensure labels are clear
Do a final sweep: check cupboards, wardrobes, roof spaces, behind doors and buildings
Call the power company with your final meter readings
Inform the movers in advance about items you need immediately upon arrival
Clean the house thoroughly, lock up, and leave it ready for the new owners

Moving Day & Post-Move Essentials

Arrange utilities at your new address
Pack the items you won’t need in the next two weeks – label boxes with the room and contents
Prepare a list of essentials for the first night (for example, toiletries and bedding) and place it on the fridge
If you’re hiring cleaners, confirm the service for the day
If moving towns, plan for registering at a GP clinic, dentist, school, or veterinarian
